Ingredients
- 1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 12 ounces peeled and deveined fresh or thawed frozen medium shrimp
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 3/4 cups 1% milk
- 1 cup of half and half cream
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce.
Directions
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine onion and broth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer, covered, until is tender, about 5 minutes. Add shrimp, salt, and cayenne and cook until shrimp are pink and opaque, about three minutes.
- Add milk, half and half, and Worcestershire sauce, if desired. Cook, stirring often, over medium heat until heated through.
